Mikhail Mishustin orders development of plan to upgrade railway infrastructure in North Caucasus

02.08.2024

One of the main topics of discussion during the meeting was the development of the hospitality industry in the Caucasus. Mikhail Mishustin noted that the Government will continue to work to strengthen the tourism potential of the region, including the Caucasian Mineral Waters.

This work will be carried out by the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Health, as well as the authorities of Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia and the Stavropol Territory. By October 11, 2024, they must submit to the Government proposals to improve the legal regulation of the functioning of the Caucasian Mineral Waters resort region, including the protection of medicinal natural resources, the legal status of the region, borders and composition of the territory.

The development of tourism in the North Caucasus is impossible without addressing the issues of increasing transport connectivity. The construction of railway infrastructure should help in this. Mikhail Mishustin instructed the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Construction and the leadership of the regions included in the North Caucasus Federal District, with the participation of Russian Railways, to work on this issue. They must submit relevant proposals by November 25, 2024, including the use of infrastructure budget loans.
