Kazakhstan intends to initiate at the EAEU level a ban on the import into the Union of vehicles older than seven years, Izvestia writes with reference to Adilbek Bektibaev, director of the department of integration and international cooperation of the Ministry of Industry of Kazakhstan. – There was a proposal from members of the working group of the Ministry of Industry to limit the import into the country of vehicles over seven years old. We would be happy to do this, and, accordingly, we will try to submit materials to the meeting of the council of the Eurasian Economic Commission to make such changes to the technical regulations,” Bektibaev said.
Regardless of whether the EEC initiative is supported, the Ministry of Industry will make changes to all regulations of Kazakhstan, “which will not allow citizens to import vehicles not for personal use.” In 2020-2021, vehicles from the EAEU countries began to be imported into Kazakhstan. A one-time campaign was carried out to legalize them, as a result of which more than 330 thousand cars were legalized in 2023. Their average age was 17 years.
