The CIS Secretary General highly appreciated the role of Turkmenistan in the development of the Commonwealth

The national Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States Sergei Lebedev, who arrived in the country to participate in the upcoming meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS, TDH reports.

The guest expressed gratitude for the opportunity to meet in person and the hospitality extended to the Turkmen land, emphasizing the important role of Turkmenistan in expanding equal and mutually beneficial cooperation within the framework of the Commonwealth.

Thanking Sergey Lebedev for his kind words, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov wished success to the upcoming meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS, which is an important platform for discussing issues of further development of cooperation in the Commonwealth.

It was noted that the meeting would provide an opportunity to exchange views on such topical topics as economic cooperation, energy, infrastructure development and international transport corridors running through the territories of the participating countries. In this context, they expressed confidence that the results of the meeting would make a worthy contribution to the implementation of the tasks set to expand trade, economic and investment partnership within the CIS.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that one of the priority aspects of the foreign policy strategy of neutral Turkmenistan is cooperation within the framework of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Given its neutral status and being an associate member of the CIS, Turkmenistan stands for effective partnership in the Commonwealth, which has solid potential in various fields. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stated that the country actively participates in summits, meetings and events held within the framework of the CIS, cooperates widely in the field of economy, trade, culture and sports, advocating further coordination of efforts in the field of transport and energy.

The importance of humanitarian dialogue and stimulating fruitful ties in the scientific, educational, cultural and sports spheres was emphasized.

Noting that Turkmenistan intends to continue to comprehensively strengthen friendly relations, contributing to the development of effective multilateral cooperation aimed at achieving concrete results, the National Leader of the Turkmen people thanked the Secretary General of the CIS Sergey Lebedev for the successful coordination of cooperation within the Commonwealth and a great contribution to strengthening the authority of the CIS.
