Chinese automaker BYD expanded its logistics capabilities by unveiling the BYD Shenzhen car carrier on January 17, which set a world record for capacity. The new ro-ro is capable of transporting up to 9200 cars at a time, auto.ru reports. The vessel's dimensions include a length of 219 meters, a width of 37,7 meters and a draft of 9 meters. The ship has a maximum speed of 18,5 knots (34,3 km/h). The developers paid special attention to environmental performance: the vessel is equipped with innovative BYD Box battery systems that provide power supply during moorings. The creation of their own cargo fleet is a strategic decision by Chinese automakers aimed at optimizing export operations and minimizing logistics risks in the context of growing international demand for Chinese cars.
