The meeting of the Presidents of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan took place

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who arrived in the capital of Kazakhstan to participate in the sixth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian states, met with President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. After warmly greeting each other and exchanging a firm handshake, the leaders of the two neighboring countries took photos against the background of the National flags of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. At the beginning of the meeting, the heads of friendly states expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to discuss in a personal conversation the current state and prospects for further development of long-term productive cooperation, traditionally built on the principles of trust, equality and mutual benefit. Thanking Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the initiative of holding this meeting, as well as for his great personal contribution to the development of relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stated that cooperation between our countries covers various spheres, including economy, trade, transport, culture and other important areas. Noting with satisfaction the active development of the Turkmen-Uzbek economic partnership in a wide range of areas, including agriculture, electric power, oil and gas complex, chemical industry and other industries, the President of Uzbekistan, in turn, stressed the importance of opening Trading houses in both countries and holding economic forums. Touching upon other important vectors of bilateral cooperation, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov highlighted transport, where Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan could make efforts to create the necessary conditions for uniting the transport systems of Central Asia, China, Europe, the Middle East. As noted, fruitful cooperation has also been established in the energy sector. In accordance with the agreements between our countries, since December 2019, Turkmen electricity has been supplied to Uzbekistan. Natural gas is also supplied from Turkmenistan to neighboring Uzbekistan. The interlocutors also noted with satisfaction the successful development of bilateral contacts in the cultural and humanitarian sphere. Cultural and humanitarian ties, by all accounts, have always served as a bridge of friendship and mutual understanding, uniting peoples. The wide celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the internationally recognized classic of Turkmen literature and philosopher-humanist of the East, Magtumguly Pragy, was very indicative in this regard. As you know, numerous events to commemorate this glorious date are held both in our country and abroad, including in Uzbekistan.
