According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, Chinese automakers exported 2.793 million vehicles overseas in the first half of this year, up 31% year-on-year.
Data released by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association on July 31 showed that Japan's auto exports in the first half of 2024 were slightly lower than the same period last year, reaching 2.01 million units.
This means that after surpassing Japan to become the world's largest auto exporter for the whole of 2023, China's auto industry has again overtaken Japan in the first half of 2024. In 2023, China overtook Japan for the first time to become the world's largest auto exporter, with an export volume of 4.91 million vehicles. Japan exported 4.42 million vehicles for the year.
