The Territorial Department of Catalonia, responsible for checking heavy passenger and freight vehicles, has acquired 8 high-tech devices capable of detecting tachograph manipulation and monitoring drivers' compliance with legal work and rest standards. Logist.Today learned about this from a message published on the portal transportealdia.es.
The equipment for remotely checking tachographs (DSRC antenna) is already used in some European countries, but this is the first time they have appeared in Spain. This measure is part of the strategy for the digitalization of inspection processes promoted by the General Directorate of Transport and Mobility of the Department of Territory, with the aim of promoting sustainable competitiveness from a social, environmental and economic point of view in the road transport sector, as well as contributing to road safety on Catalan roads.
The Director General of Transport and Mobility, Oriol Martori i Gallissa, handed over the equipment to the Road Unit of the Catalan Police (Mossos d'Esquadra). The handover ceremony took place on the AP7 motorway through Martorell.
