Freight operators are increasing costs for wages, equipment and services. Logist.Today learned about this from a material published by the press service of the International Road Transport Union (IRU).
Over the past decade, total wages (including salaries, bonuses and allowances) in the trucking industry have increased by approximately 49%. This significant growth is due to a 27% increase in the number of people working in the sector and direct increases in salaries.
On average, wages in the EU road haulage sector have increased by 18% between 2013 and 2021. The growth in spending on assets (vehicles, etc.) and services was less significant than the growth in wages (37% and 49%, respectively). On average, trucking companies' spending on assets, services and wages has increased 40% over the past decade.
