The transport and communication sector of Turkmenistan shows steady growth in the first six months of 2024

Director General of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan M.Chakiyev reported on the activities of the transport and communications sector in the first six months of 2024. In his report, he noted significant successes in various areas of activity of this complex.
Growth of indicators
During the reporting period, the growth rate in the performance of works and services in the transport and communications sector amounted to 116.8 percent. This indicates the high efficiency and dynamic development of the sector, which has a positive impact on the country's economy as a whole.
Cargo and passenger transportation
The growth rate in the field of cargo transportation by road, rail, air, sea and river transport amounted to 105 percent, and in passenger transportation – 103.4 percent. This confirms the steady increase in traffic volumes, which contributes to improving logistics and transport accessibility for the public and businesses.
Agency activities
The report also announced the growth indicators for the provision of services in January–June of this year:
The agency "Türkmendemirýollary" — 105.1 percent.
The agency "Turkmenawtoulaglary" — 110 percent.
The agency "Türkmenhowa Dollar" — 149.4 percent.
The agency "Türkmendeńizderýaýollary" — 109.7 percent.
The agency "Turkmenaragatnaşyk" — 112.7 percent.
The development of the digital economy
Information was provided on the practical steps taken in the framework of the implementation of the "Concept for the development of the digital economy in Turkmenistan for 2019-2025". In cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme, work is underway to introduce a system of interdepartmental electronic information exchange in the country. This is aimed at increasing the efficiency and transparency of the work of government agencies and improving the quality of services provided.
Construction of new facilities
M.Chakiyev also noted that in various parts of the country, active construction of industrial and social facilities subordinated to the transport and communication sector is underway. This includes both infrastructure projects and the development of new logistics centers, which contributes to further economic development and improvement of the quality of life of the population.
Thus, the transport and communication sector of Turkmenistan demonstrates steady growth and development, which is an important indicator of the country's sustainable economic progress.
