China has launched regular freight rail service to Europe via Russia. This was reported by Xinhua news agency with reference to the largest Chinese logistics company Sinotrans.

"The launch of this regular freight train will allow goods to be sent directly from Beijing to Europe, reducing costs and increasing efficiency," the agency quoted Geng Zhanfeng, Deputy Director General of the North China branch of Sinotrans, as saying.

It is reported that a freight train with construction materials, consumer electronics and other goods departed on Monday from a logistics hub in the Pinggu district in the northeast of the Chinese capital to Moscow. Shipments of cargo along this route starting from Monday will be carried out at least once a month.

The trial run of the train on this route took place in March 2023.
