For the first time, two trains with Kuzbass coal were sent to India via the North–South International Transport Corridor. The trains started from the Kemerovo region and followed the eastern branch of the MTK through Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan to the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas. On the Turkmen-Iranian border, coal was reloaded into wagons of the 1,435 mm gauge of Iran's railways. Solid fuel will travel the last part of the way from the port of Bandar Abbas to the port of Mumbai by sea.
