Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Mahrijemal Mammedova proposed during a regular online meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Friday to transfer historical findings discovered near the gengeshlik of Dovkesen district named after Saparmyrat Turkmenbashi of Dashoguz province to the Museum of Ethnography and Local History of Arkadag city on June 22 of this year.
According to the official media of Turkmenistan, residents of the gengeshlik of Dovkesen district named after Saparmyrat Turkmenbashi of Dashoguz province found 18 gold and 3 silver coins, along with 61 fragments of gold coins and 8 multi-colored items. Currently, these valuables have been handed over to the museum fund of the State historical and cultural reserve Köneürgenç.
Preliminary analysis conducted by scientists and specialists from the National Administration for Preservation, Study, and Protection of Cultural and Historical Monuments of Turkmenistan, together with numismatists from the country's Academy of Sciences, revealed that some of the gold coins bear the names of Sultan Ala ad-Din Muhammad, ruler of the Khwarazmian Empire, and his father Sultan Tekesh.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that as part of the commemoration, there are plans for a working session focused on "Global Best Practices in Museum Treasure Accounting and Preservation," along with an exhibition featuring museum treasures and decorative arts.
According to the report, there are also plans to award commendatory gifts to citizens who discovered these artifacts and participated in their transfer to the state.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed the Deputy Prime Minister to undertake appropriate measures to popularize the discoveries made in the Dashoguz province among the general population, to enrich the museum fund, and to transfer these valuables to the museum.
