Science and high technologies are the foundation of sustainable development

14.06.2024
It is an indisputable fact that in the modern world science is the foundation of progress, the driving force of transformations in all spheres of life of the state and society. The widespread introduction of advanced scientific and technological achievements and innovations into practice is a key factor in sustainable development, effective solution of important tasks, and improvement of the level and quality of people's lives. Scientific knowledge is at the heart of education, because it is they who are passed on to new generations in the learning process. In a new historical era, having identified the development of science and technology as a key vector of state policy, independent neutral Turkmenistan confidently continues to move forward along the path of fundamental all-encompassing reforms. To this end, large-scale comprehensive work is being carried out in the Fatherland, initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and is now consistently continuing under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. All conditions are created in scientific research institutes, higher educational institutions, and other specialized structures of the country for the successful conduct of fundamental and applied research, and the expansion of their range. At the same time, priority is given to the relationship between science, education and production. Special attention is paid to involving young people in science, stimulating and supporting a new generation of talented scientists, and strengthening fruitful cooperation with the world scientific community. A clear confirmation of this is the assignment of the status of an International Science and Technology Park to the Technology Center of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan. As you know, the relevant Resolution was signed by the head of state during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held last week, on the eve of Science Day. This solution will allow our scientists and engineers to intensify and deepen cooperation with prestigious foreign specialized centers, including the International Association of Science Parks (IASP). On the occasion of Science Day, widely celebrated annually in Turkmenistan on June 12, forums are traditionally held that bring together domestic scientists and their foreign colleagues, university professors, and students. This year, the capital also hosted a number of international conferences devoted to various aspects of science and new prospects for cooperation. One of them – "Important areas of the "green" economy: eco-, nano-, bio- and information technologies" – was organized at the Oguz Khan University of Engineering and Technology. The relevance of the topic of this forum is obvious. In the light of modern realities, including factors such as ecology, climate change, and the rational use of natural resources, it is the "green" transformation that is identified among the main vectors of economic and social development at the national, regional and global levels. As the participants of the conference noted, Turkmenistan takes an initiative position in matters of international partnership, taking concrete steps to promote "green" solutions, the introduction of innovative environmentally friendly technologies in all sectors of the national economy. During the breakout sessions, the subject of an interested discussion and exchange of views were in-demand areas of research, prospects for cooperation, in particular, in the field of creating high-tech industries, using digital technologies, forming a common academic platform and network services to solve priority tasks on a regional and global scale. The forum also summed up the results of the competition of innovative technologies announced by this university among the youth of the country, and an award ceremony was held for the winners. The International Conference "Development and Future of innovative technologies in Turkmenistan" was also timed to coincide with the Science Day. As President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasizes, science acts as a solid platform for the realization of national and universally recognized great goals. A characteristic feature of the Russian scientific system is its focus on the practical use of scientific achievements. And here it is necessary to proceed from the fact that the value of any development is the higher the faster its introduction into production. It is noteworthy that the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan became the venue of the forum. This institution is a generator of the innovative economy of the country, the "knowledge economy", the intellectual and scientific and technical potential of the Motherland. The reports presented at the conference covered topical issues of the development of high technologies and their application in various sectors of the economy. It was particularly noted that the future of national science is closely linked to the processes of Turkmenistan's integration into the world scientific space, building up effective cooperation with major scientific centers and reputable international organizations. In this regard, potential areas of joint scientific research were discussed. An interested exchange of views took place within the framework of the sessions "Chemical Technologies and Ecology", "Nanotechnology and Energy", "Technologies for the production of bio-, food and medicines", "Information and communication and geographic information systems", "Innovative Economics". It should be noted that before the conference, its participants got acquainted with the exhibition of digital technologies and innovative projects of the International Science and Technology Park and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) under the motto "Transition to renewable energy sources - the energy of the future". The delegates of the forum were also given the opportunity to take part in the awarding ceremony of the winners of the scientific and creative competition among schoolchildren "Young Innovators". A wide range of issues of multifaceted cooperation in the scientific field was put on the agenda of the International Conference "Science, Technology and Innovative Technologies in the Era of the Renaissance of a new era of a powerful state" held in the capital. The two-day forum, organized annually by the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, has become an open platform for discussing current trends in scientific and technological progress, which is a fundamental factor in achieving economic and social growth. As the participants of the conference noted, our country is an illustrative example in this regard, which has taken a course towards innovative development, which is reflected in the adopted state programs, concepts and strategies. A visible symbol of the success of the grandiose transformations carried out in this direction is the new "smart" city of Arkadag, built in the picturesque foothills of Kopetdag. As you know, the initiator of this megaproject is the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The very idea of creating this "smart city", unique in its architectural and technological solution, testifies to the strategic vision of the future of the Motherland as a highly developed state. In this context, it should be noted that the construction of the city of Arkadag, which has received a special legal status of a city of national importance on a legislative basis, and the development of its digital platform have become a kind of school for the practical application of theoretical knowledge, abilities, innovative proposals and ideas for students and faculty of domestic specialized higher educational institutions. For the future of the Motherland and its progressive development are connected with the younger generation. The rapid progress of world science has led to the emergence of a number of new directions, which in turn creates prerequisites for a significant expansion of the range of scientific research and mutually beneficial cooperation. This was confirmed by the topics of the breakout sessions held within the framework of the conference: "Nanotechnology, chemical technologies, the study of new materials and energy", "Biotechnology, molecular biology, agriculture, ecology and genetics", "Information and communication systems, computer technologies", "Modern medicine and drug production technologies". There was also a constructive exchange of views on topical aspects of the innovative economy, where the basic criterion is continuous technological improvement. Along with this, the forum participants focused on innovative processes in the humanities. During the session "Makhtumkuli Fragi – poet of the human soul" it was noted that the work of the great Turkmen poet and thinker, rightfully recognized as an integral part of the world cultural heritage, also serves as a subject of in-depth scientific study and inspires domestic and foreign scientists to conduct new research. An effective incentive for the active involvement of the younger generation in science is the annual competition of scientific papers among young scientists and students in our country. By tradition, on June 12, the award ceremony for the winners of this prestigious review was held at the Makhtumkuli Turkmen State University, who were awarded honorary diplomas and valuable gifts in a solemn ceremony on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan. Expressing sincere gratitude to the head of State Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the full support of scientific activities, the participants of the festive events stressed that the innovative reforms implemented in Turkmenistan in this area contribute to the dynamic development of the country, achieving new successes in the field of science, deepening fruitful international relations in this important area.
