Kazakhstan plans to create an alternative route to Afghanistan through Turkmenistan to increase trade turnover from $1 to $3 million, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin said, Interfax-Kazakhstan reported on Wednesday.
According to Zhumangarin, the government of the country intends to increase exports of wheat, flour and flour products to Afghanistan, which currently amounts to at least 500 thousand tons.
The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan added that Kazakhstan's relations with Afghanistan are developing dynamically, and to improve current indicators, the first North-South trade and logistics forum is planned to be held in Aktau next week, to which representatives of Afghanistan are invited.
Today, the main route from Kazakhstan to Afghanistan passes through Uzbekistan.
