The delivery time of goods along the Trans-Caspian route bypassing Russia will be halved
05.06.2024
The Parliament of Kazakhstan has ratified an intergovernmental agreement with China on the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TMTM). The implementation of the agreement should halve the delivery time of goods from China to the EU along this logistics corridor.
The purpose of the document is to develop multimodal freight transportation along the Trans-Caspian route, which allows goods to be delivered between China and Europe bypassing Russia. To do this, it is proposed to use the advantages of road, sea and rail modes of transport, which will create favorable conditions for the transportation of goods through the territory of Kazakhstan and China.
Currently, the transit time for goods from China to Europe is 19-23 days, of which 6 days are on the territory of Kazakhstan, and the cargo flow is 6 million tons. As part of the agreement, it is planned to increase cargo traffic to 10 million tons by 2027, the total speed of cargo passage from China to Europe will be 12-13 days.
