17.04.2024

Today, with the participation of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, a solemn ceremony was held for the commissioning of the Tejen-Mary section of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabad high-speed highway.

The laying of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabad highway with a length of 600 kilometers started on January 24, 2019. Work on its construction is carried out in three stages – Ashgabat-Tejen (203 kilometers), Tejen-Mary (109 kilometers) and Mary-Turkmenabad (288 kilometers).

As you know, the first section of the Ashgabat–Tejen high-speed highway was commissioned with the participation of the National Leader of the Turkmen people in October 2021.

The new infrastructure facility was awarded certificates of compliance with the quality of the autobahn to the ISO 9001 standard, as well as confirming the compliance of design and construction work with international standards, in particular, "Road construction Design" and "Construction work". The Ashgabat-Turkmenabat highway has also been awarded certificates confirming the high safety of the highway and the use of innovative high technologies in its construction.

This high assessment confirms that the main requirement for laying roads in our country is the use of advanced experience and modern technologies, compliance of the work carried out with international standards.

This is one of the largest transport projects in our country. Its implementation will give automobile transit cargo flows a quick access to an extensive highway system extending to the Asia-Pacific region. Thus, a new high-speed transport artery will appear in Turkmenistan, which will allow faster and cheaper transportation of goods over long distances. In this context, it should be noted the constructive nature of the initiatives of Chairman Halk Maslahaty and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov aimed at optimizing mutually beneficial partnership in the transport and communications sector.

The relevance and relevance of these proposals is obvious, since the transport sector is one of the key segments of the global economy, directly affecting the stability and balance of global economic relations, and plays an important role in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the United Nations.

Consistently integrating into the transport system, Turkmenistan prioritizes the further expansion of the infrastructure of the main transit and transport corridors connecting important roads and modal centers along the East-West and North-South routes.

As the President of the country emphasizes, the formation of the most important transport corridors in various directions is of great importance in the context of realizing the goals of reviving the Great Silk Road and connecting the economic poles of Eurasia. It also implies the possibility of connecting to the international transport system in the southern and eastern directions with access to China, India, Pakistan, the countries of the Asia-Pacific region and the Middle East.

One of the characteristic features of the new road is that it passes through the territory of the Karakum Mountains, which are distinguished by their peculiar natural beauty. Today, thanks to the selfless activity of the President of the country, great importance is attached to maintaining an optimal ecological balance in all corners of the country, as well as the rational use of natural resources, which ensures universal well-being.

By order of JSC "Türkmen Awtoban", which also acts as the general contractor of the project, the construction of the highway with landscaping of the adjacent territory was carried out by the Economic Company "Altyn nesil".

The autobahn consists of six lanes. In each direction, an emergency lane, a ditch and metal fences are adjacent to the traffic area, which will prevent animals and people from entering the lane. The new motorway with a roadbed of the first category involves the use of multilayer earthwork and pavement made of modern materials – high-quality asphalt concrete, synthetic fabric, nets and other materials that increase the strength of the structural layers of the highway to increase the load-bearing capacity.

The highway is designed to the highest standards, along which there are parking lots and recreation areas for drivers and passengers, shops and cafes, a gas station and other facilities. The highway infrastructure includes several traffic police posts equipped with surveillance cameras, maintenance points, and road maintenance services.

Traffic is controlled by a special system that collects, stores and transmits all traffic flow data and information to the traffic supervision service using continuous video surveillance. Reports from the weather station are also sent here, including parameters such as humidity, visibility distance, etc.

Along the road there are special telephone communication points connected to the control center for urgent calls and assistance.
