At the moment, the land borders of Azerbaijan are still closed due to the "special quarantine regime", which, according to the latest decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, will be in effect until July 1, 2024. The passage of motor transport is prohibited, international bus and rail services are not carried out.
This restriction applies not only to the Russian-Azerbaijani border, but also to the border of Azerbaijan with Georgia, Turkey, Iran and Armenia.
An exception has been made only for cargo transportation, as well as for Russians leaving the territory of Azerbaijan through the Samur checkpoint and the neighboring Yarag Kazmalyar border post in Dagestan.
It is worth noting that these restrictions were introduced back in April 2020 and have been repeatedly extended since then. It is difficult to say the exact timing of the opening of the land interstate border between Russia and Azerbaijan now.
