China – Serbia Container Train

28.03.2024

On March 21, a container train left Shijiazhuang in Hebei Province for Belgrade. This is the first China–Europe freight train that will connect the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region in northern China with Serbia, Xinhua news agency reports.

According to Hebei International Land Port Co., Ltd, the train will pass through the Alashankou checkpoint, cover 10200 km and arrive in Serbia about 20 days after departure.

The train will deliver 110 TEUs of various cargoes to Belgrade totaling about 20 million yuan ($2.82 million), including auto parts and mechanical equipment.

The new route is expected to create a new channel for trade and economic exchanges between the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and Serbia, as well as other countries participating in the One Belt and One Road initiative in Central and Eastern Europe.
