A monument to Belarusian poet Yanka Kupala will be erected in Ashgabat

The Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Belarus, Nazarguly Shagulyev, announced plans to erect a monument to the famous Belarusian classic Yanka Kupala in the capital of Turkmenistan. He told reporters this news during his visit to the Vitebsk State University of the Order of Friendship of Peoples Medical University.

"This year we are celebrating the 300th anniversary of our great poet Makhtumkuli Fraga, and various events are taking place from January to December this year. In May, a meeting of ministers of culture of many countries will be held in Ashgabat, in October, the arrival of heads of state and government is scheduled and the opening of a large 60-meter monument to the poet Makhtumkuli Fragi in the southern part of our capital. There will be monuments to 25 representatives of foreign countries on this alley, including the representative of your country, Janka Kupala," the ambassador said.

This step demonstrates Turkmenistan's desire to strengthen its cultural ties with other countries and celebrate important historical dates and personalities. The installation of the monument to Yanka Kupala will be another step towards strengthening friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Belarus.
