Today, Turkmenistan celebrates the National Holiday of Spring – the International Day of Novruz. On the occasion of this event, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov addressed a festive message to the Turkmen people, TDH reports.

Dear people!
I sincerely congratulate you on the National Holiday of Spring – the International Novruz Day, solemnly celebrated in our Motherland in the year, the motto of which is "The storehouse of the mind of Makhtumkuli Fragi"! I am sure that the events on the occasion of this holiday will inspire compatriots to achieve ambitious goals in the name of the prosperity of the Motherland, contributing to the widespread popularization of ancestral national values and rich cultural heritage.
Novruz, which occupies a special place in the life of the peoples of the East, is a celebration of humanism, unity, friendship and brotherhood. By improving the cultural and spiritual values of their glorious ancestors, Turkmens have been widely celebrating this day for centuries, observing the traditions associated with it. Being associated with rebirth, prosperity and renewal of life, Novruz is of particular importance in the formation of good relations between peoples.
The historical significance of the spring festival is reflected in the works of classics of the East – Dovletmammet Azadi, Makhtumkuli Fragi, Nurmukhammet Andalib, Abu Reyhan Biruni, Omar Khayyam, Alisher Navoi, Abdyrahman Jami, Firdousi, Mahmit Kashgarli and others.
Novruz forms good qualities in the human soul and fosters selfless feelings, as well as love for nature, life and the world. This holiday, which is celebrated in the beautiful spring season, has become a symbol of the renewal of nature and the revival of life.

On the basis of a special Resolution of the United Nations General Assembly, March 21 was proclaimed "International Novruz Day". The traditions of the Novruz holiday are included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Mankind by UNESCO. Occupying a special place at the international level, this day contributes to the improvement of cultural and humanitarian traditions in the world, strengthening the bonds of friendship and brotherhood between peoples.
Independent Turkmenistan, being committed to the principles of permanent neutrality, effectively and consistently develops relations with the countries of the world, which is a priority of the country's foreign policy.
Various events, exhibitions, concerts held on the occasion of the International Novruz Day contribute to the promotion of cultural and humanitarian cooperation. The wide celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great thinker of the East and the classic poet Makhtumkuli Fragi this year, whose motto is "The Storehouse of the mind of Makhtumkuli Fragi", increases the historical significance of the International Novruz Day.
At the 39th meeting of the Permanent Council of Ministers of Culture of TURKSOY, held in Bursa in 2022, it was decided to proclaim 2024 "The Year of the great poet and thinker of the Turkic world – Makhtumkuli Fragi", and the ancient city of Anau – "The Cultural capital of the Turkic world". The opening ceremony of the events in honor of awarding such a prestigious title to the city of Anau and the celebrations that will be organized jointly with TURKSA in connection with the National Spring Holiday – International Novruz Day, is a symbol of our country's achievement of new heights in political, social and cultural life. This is clearly demonstrated by the celebrations held in the spirit of friendship and brotherhood in the hospitable Turkmen land.
