Russian Railways is developing 8 border crossings as a priority. Among them are "Makhalino", "Zabaikalsk", "Grodekovo", "Naushki", "Derbent", "Aksaraysky", "Kartaly", said Sergey Pavlov, First Deputy General Director of the monopoly, speaking at TransRussia 2024.
– In 2023, the Nizhneleniske-Tongjiang bridge was opened and more than 3 million tons have already been transported. Initially, it was planned to transport only containerized cargo, but now they have expanded the range to containerized cargo. Because we are well aware that containerization is our future and these are high–margin cargoes," Sergey Pavlov stressed. In 2023, Russian Railways invested 4.5 billion rubles in the development of border crossings, and in 2024 – another 7 billion rubles.
Recall that in 2024, on the eve of the Chinese New Year, the demand for rail delivery increased by 30%.
