Elon Musk has announced that the electric car manufacturer Tesla, which he controls, will introduce a robotaxy this summer. This move is due to the fact that the introduction of driverless vehicles has stalled due to safety concerns.

The billionaire did not disclose the details of these plans, only announcing in his post on the social network X that the presentation of Tesla Robotaxi will take place on August 8.

E. Musk has long boasted that Tesla is developing a project for an unmanned driving system for electric vehicles.

Tesla models with FSD Full Self-management) "will be so superhuman that in the future it will seem strange that people drove cars even when they were exhausted or drunk!" he said in a March X post.

Despite the potential, the introduction of driverless vehicles in the United States has so far been cautious and sluggish, as both regulators and the public have expressed concerns about safety.

In San Francisco, which has become a testing ground for this technology, Google-created Waymo taxi robots have become the target of vandals opposed to autonomous systems, and Cruise, owned by General Motors, suspended its robot taxi service indefinitely at the end of October after several accidents.

Tesla's autopilot feature has also come under scrutiny amid accusations that its marketing exaggerates its real capabilities.
