Various production and social facilities for the transport and communication complex are under construction in different parts of Turkmenistan, said Mammethan Chakyyev, the Director General of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers, during a regular online meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Friday.
As reported by Turkmenistan's official media, Chakyyev noted that the growth rate of work and services rendered to the complex from January to April 2024 reached 118 percent, while the growth rate of cargo and passenger transportation by all modes of transport amounted to 103.5 and 102.6 percent, respectively.
According to the report, the growth rate of services rendered from January to April by the Türkmendemirýollary (Turkmen Railways) agency reached 104.3 percent, Türkmenawtoulaglary (Turkmen Autotrasportation) agency - 110.5 percent, Türkmenhowaýollary (Turkmen Airways) agency - 161.2 percent, Türkmendeňizderýaýollary (Turkmen Maritime and River Roads) agency - 114.8 percent, and Türkmenaragatnaşyk(Turkmen Communications) agency - 111.9 percent.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the need to increase the volumes of international freight transportation through effective utilization of the country's transport and transit potential. The head of state also noted the importance of constant modernization of the industry's material and technical equipment and gave relevant instructions to the agency's leadership.
As part of its mission, the Türkmenaragatnaşyk agency operates in various areas such as local and cellular communication, internet, postal services, digital economy, cybersecurity, satellite communication, national broadcasting and radio broadcasting, as well as training of specialists.
