Turkmenistan and Afghanistan plan to create a joint logistics center in Turgundi

Under the leadership of the Director General of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers Mammethan Chakiyev and Minister of Industry and Trade Nuriddin Azizi, a meeting of delegations was held in Kabul on April 26, 2024, respectively, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Afghanistan reports.


Taking into account the strategic location of the two countries, the parties considered issues of preferential tariffs for the export of Afghan goods, increasing supplies of marble, limestone and other minerals from Afghanistan, as well as expanding trade ties and transit agreements between Afghanistan, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, and the creation of a large joint logistics center in Turgundi.


The meeting also discussed the development of railway infrastructure in Afghanistan, assistance in sending oil and gas from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan, issues of quarantine of Afghan export and transit goods, reduction of transport and transit costs and development of banking relations.


A trilateral meeting was held in Kabul between Mammetkhan Chakiyev, Director General of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Nuriddin Azizi, Minister of Trade and Industry of Afghanistan, and Serik Zhumangarin, Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan. The parties reached an agreement on the development of joint transport corridors.
