President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held talks with the Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Ahsan Iqbal, according to TDH. During the meeting, it was noted that relations between Turkmenistan and Pakistan, based on the principles of friendship and mutual respect, are developing dynamically across all key areas — including political and diplomatic cooperation, trade and economy, energy, transport, education, and cultural-humanitarian ties. Both sides emphasized that trade and economic relations are a priority in bilateral cooperation. In this context, the need to utilize existing potential to increase mutual trade volumes and expand collaboration in strategic sectors of the economy was highlighted. As stated during the meeting, Turkmenistan is actively working to bring its energy resources to international markets and attaches great importance to the successful implementation of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) gas pipeline project, as well as the construction of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan (TAP) power transmission and fiber-optic communication line. “These projects are designed to contribute to the sustainable development of not only our countries' economies, but also to ensuring energy stability across the entire region,” the head of state noted, reaffirming Turkmenistan’s readiness to strengthen ties with the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and support new initiatives in this direction.
