President of Turkmenistan Holds Meeting on Agricultural Development

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a working meeting with Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers T. Atakhallyev and the governors of the regions to discuss the development of the country's agricultural sector, reports TDH. During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister T. Atakhallyev presented a report on the current state of the agricultural industry. According to him, in accordance with established agrotechnical standards, work is underway in the regions to fertilize and irrigate winter wheat to ensure a bountiful harvest, as set by the head of state. At the same time, preparations are being made for the upcoming cotton sowing campaign, including land preparation and the selection of high-quality seeds. Measures are also being taken to prepare fields for growing vegetable and melon crops, while the planting of potatoes and vegetables continues to supply the domestic market with local products. After hearing the report, the President of Turkmenistan emphasized the need for comprehensive measures to successfully achieve the goals for the development of the agricultural sector in accordance with modern requirements. He gave relevant instructions to further strengthen the country’s food security. Addressing the meeting participants, the head of state stressed the importance of timely agricultural campaigns and instructed strict control over soil preparation for cotton sowing, as well as ensuring the supply of quality seeds to producers. The President also ordered an acceleration of potato and vegetable sowing, ensuring timely settlements between agricultural producers and service enterprises in the regions. Special attention was given to the organized preparation for events dedicated to the upcoming International Women’s Day. During the meeting, the head of state also instructed officials to oversee the construction of social, cultural, and industrial facilities scheduled for completion this year across all regions of the country.
