Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov discussed strategic partnership with the President of Kazakhstan

A telephone conversation took place between the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, during which the parties discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation and outlined new areas of cooperation between the two countries, TDH reports.
The conversation highlighted the dynamic and consistent development of relations across the entire spectrum of the bilateral agenda. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed special gratitude to the Kazakh leader for his personal contribution to strengthening ties between fraternal peoples.
Special attention was paid to the intensification of political and diplomatic contacts, which creates a solid foundation for expanding cooperation in the economic, trade and humanitarian spheres. The parties also discussed topical issues of water issues in the region, raised earlier at the United Water Summit in Riyadh on December 3, 2024.
During the conversation, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov shared information about a recent conversation with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, in which the launch of the International Year of Peace and Trust initiated by Turkmenistan was discussed.
– It was a constructive and meaningful conversation. In fact, we launched the year 2025, which was declared the International Year of Peace and Trust by a special resolution of the UN General Assembly, Chairman Halk Maslahaty stressed.
The parties also discussed practical aspects of cooperation in the energy, transit and transport sectors. To further develop the strategic partnership, it was proposed to hold consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries in Astana.
In the field of ecology, Turkmenistan expressed support for Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea and confirmed its readiness to work together on the climate agenda. The sides also discussed upcoming events in a five-sided format, emphasizing the importance of regional cooperation.
