Delegates of the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan participated in the fourth annual meeting of the Eastern European Informal Working Group on Passenger Data (EE IWG), which was held from November 6 to 8 in Vienna, Austria. During these dates, the eighth seminar on passenger data was also held.
According to the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Austria, the events were dedicated to the responsible use of passenger data to combat terrorism and organized crime, highlighting best practices, innovative technologies, and international cooperation.
The Turkmen delegation interacted with experts from various countries, sharing information about their own national practices and participating in discussions on common experiences and operational models.
The meetings emphasized the importance of API and PNR systems for border protection and improving security mechanisms in accordance with the resolutions adopted by the UN Security Council and the OSCE Ministerial Decision of 2016.
The events were jointly organized by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT).
