I sincerely congratulate you on the opening of the International Tennis Tournament "Ashgabat Open 2024" on the hospitable Turkmen land in the year, the motto of which is "The storehouse of the mind of Magtymguly Pyragy"!
The current competition is a bright event in the sports chronicle of Turkmenistan, and I am sure that it will greatly serve to strengthen international cooperation in the field of sports, promote the ideas of peace and friendship, the principles of the Olympic movement, as well as improve the skills and abilities of young tennis players.
We attach great importance to the popularization of the mass sports and recreation movement in independent, neutral Turkmenistan. At the same time, we pay special attention to the development of big-time sports through the training of strong athletes, coaches and specialized specialists, as well as the activation of international partnership.
Since ancient times, our ancestors regarded sport as a harbinger of peace and friendship, and now, being committed to their principle, we see it as a very important point of contact with the whole world and a universal means to strengthen friendly ties with the peoples of the planet.

The era of the Revival of a new era of a powerful state is significant for the large–scale construction and opening of specialized facilities throughout the country - in the regions, the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag, in particular, multi-purpose stadiums, sports and recreation complexes, racetracks and sports schools.
New goals in the field of sports are defined in the Program "Revival of a new era of a powerful state: The National Program of Socio-economic Development of Turkmenistan in 2022-2052" and in the Program of support and development of physical culture and sports in Turkmenistan in 2021-2025. The solution of the planned tasks is designed to increase the prestige of domestic sports and our state as a center for international competitions.
Based on this, independent neutral Turkmenistan, which is a member of the International Olympic Committee and the Olympic Council of Asia, is carrying out appropriate reforms for the development of sports on a programmatic basis. All conditions are being created for the organization of major tournaments at a high level, including the Asian Games, continental and world championships.
As you know, several international competitions have been held in the capital's Olympic town, which is the most modern sports complex in the region and fully meets international standards. They were organized on the basis of mutually beneficial partnership with relevant international structures. Among them are the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, the World Championships in weightlifting and kurash wrestling, as well as regional competitions. It is gratifying to note that all of them were very successful.

We pay considerable attention to the development of tennis in Turkmenistan and create favorable conditions for this.
In this regard, it is noteworthy that the Asian Tennis Federation announced the Tennis Complex in the structure of the capital's Olympic campus as the "Training Center of the Asian region", as well as awarding the appropriate certificate. Today, Turkmenistan regularly hosts national tennis competitions, and young athletes successfully represent our country at major world tournaments. I am sure that this event will give a powerful impetus to the development of this sport in our country!
