Ashgabat and Tokyo are preparing for the first Central Asia + Japan summit at the level of heads of state

Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya discussed preparations for the first Central Asia + Japan summit at the level of heads of state. During the telephone conversation, the parties discussed key issues of bilateral cooperation in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. This was reported by the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan.

The Ministers noted the high level of interstate relations based on a trust-based dialogue at the highest political level, and also discussed the importance of continuing cooperation between the foreign ministries of the two countries and exchanged views on the agenda of the next inter-ministerial consultations.

In addition, the parties noted the importance of partnership between the two countries in the trade and economic sphere. Japanese companies expressed interest in developing cooperation with the Turkmen side, in particular in such areas as "green" energy, decarbonization, gas chemistry, etc. In this regard, the importance of the activities of the joint committees on economic cooperation was emphasized.

In addition, the interlocutors exchanged views on upcoming events with the participation of Turkmenistan and Japan, including the prospects for the participation of the Turkmen delegation in the World EXPO 2025 in Osaka.
