The delegation of Turkmenistan, led by Deputy Foreign Minister A. Gurbanov, participated in the Ministerial Session of the High-Level Conference held in Kuwait on November 4-5, 2024. The event focused on international cooperation in counter-terrorism and improving border security mechanisms within the framework of the Dushanbe Process.
Participants concentrated on developing multilateral approaches to counter-terrorism cooperation and analyzed the effectiveness of existing response mechanisms to modern threats. Special attention was given to strengthening professional cooperation under the auspices of the UN in developing comprehensive counter-terrorism measures.
In his speech, the representative of Turkmenistan emphasized the country's commitment to combating threats to peace and security both nationally and internationally. The close cooperation of Turkmenistan with the UN in counter-terrorism and drug trafficking was highlighted.
A special event on protecting critical energy infrastructure from terrorist threats was held during the conference. The Turkmen side presented its experience in such initiatives and received high praise from the head of the UN Counter-Terrorism Office, V. Voronkov, for active cooperation. The Turkmen delegation invited participants to the upcoming UN Counter-Terrorism Office event in Ashgabat on November 11-12.
The visit's program also included a bilateral meeting between representatives of the Foreign Ministries of Turkmenistan and Kuwait, during which prospects for developing relations between the countries in various fields were discussed.
