The State Migration Service of Turkmenistan held a ceremony to present passports to 1,146 individuals who were granted citizenship of the country. This event, timed to coincide with the 33rd anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence, reflected the state's commitment to the norms of international humanitarian law, TDH reports.
At the request of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, representatives of 29 nationalities permanently residing in the country became citizens of Turkmenistan. In addition, 134 people from 6 countries received residence permits. The President noted that Turkmenistan continues to actively protect human rights and freedoms, following international standards.
The ceremony participants expressed gratitude to the President for his attention to the problems of stateless persons and the creation of conditions for their prosperous life. Turkmenistan, having acceded to the main international legal documents of the UN, confirms its commitment to humanitarian initiatives and the norms of international law.
