President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturian will take part in the International Forum of Heads of State and Government dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen poet and philosopher Magtymguly Pragy. The event will take place on October 11, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Turkmenistan Ruben Kharazyan said on the pages of the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper. "Armenia is actively developing relations with various countries, striving to strengthen its positions both in the post-Soviet space and in Europe. Turkmenistan is an important partner of Armenia, with which close and friendly relations have been established. These relations, based on mutual understanding and trust, include cooperation in such areas as trade, economics, science and culture One of the striking examples is the planned visit of the President of the Republic of Armenia to the International Forum of Heads of State and Government dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen poet and philosopher Magtymguly Pragy, which will be held on October 11, 2024. This visit will be an important milestone in the bilateral relations between Armenia and Turkmenistan and will allow discussing the prospects for further cooperation. We are pleased to note the significant successes of Turkmenistan under the leadership of respected President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who is confidently building a stable and prosperous future for his country. Turkmenistan's dynamic transformation is particularly admired, in particular the development of Ashgabat and the implementation of the large-scale Arkadag Smart City project, which has become a vivid symbol of progress in the region. In recent years, we have seen an intensification of economic ties: in 2023, bilateral trade increased by 50 percent compared to 2022, and in the first six months of 2024, the increase was 5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. In 2023, the volume of bilateral trade amounted to $ 21.3 million, and in the first seven months of 2024, this figure reached $ 12 million. However, despite the positive dynamics, this indicator still does not meet the needs and expectations of the parties, which indicates that there is significant potential for further development and deepening of cooperation. Since 2009, Armenia and Turkmenistan have held nine meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation. These meetings made it possible to identify key areas for joint projects in the field of trade, science and culture. An important milestone will be the 10th anniversary meeting of the commission, which is scheduled for spring 2025 and will be held in Yerevan. It is expected that this event will give a new impetus to bilateral relations and open up new horizons for cooperation between the countries," Ruben Kharazyan emphasizes in his article.
