President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a decree on the next military draft to be held in October-December 2024. According to the document, male citizens aged 18 to 27 who do not have the right to exemption or deferment from military service are subject to conscription, as reported by TDH.
Simultaneously with the conscription of new recruits, the decree provides for the discharge to the reserve of servicemen who have served the terms established by law.
The President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, also signed a separate order addressed to the heads of the security agencies. It states the need to conduct the discharge of servicemen in a solemn atmosphere and to encourage those who have distinguished themselves in combat and socio-humanitarian training.
The decree came into force upon its official publication on September 16, 2024.
